This portrait was created about a week after the ship was sunk. The boat was a copy of whaling vessels used in the old days, and it served as a permanent museum that floated in Lahaina Harbor. Once the ship became derelict it was decided to sink her and make a new reef.
I love the lines of the masts, shrouds, and bubbles. Together they make a compelling composition.
